Expanding Sponsor Base Energizes SEMI Foundation’s 2007 High Tech U Program Outreach
New sponsors, including Air Products, Kumamoto Prefecture, Salt River Project, Semiconductor Leading Edge Technologies, Inc., SOITEC, Sony Semiconductor, ST Microelectronics, and Tokyo Electron, are helping the SEMI Foundation deliver more High Tech U programs in 2007 than in any previous year. The number of scheduled programs represents an increase of 25 percent compared to 2006.
In addition to the January program delivered in Oregon, the Foundation will deliver four programs in Arizona; four in California; one in Idaho; one in Massachusetts; two in New Mexico; and one in Pennsylvania. High Tech U Teacher Edition programs will be held in Washington, DC and Texas. Non-U.S. High Tech U programs will be held in Grenoble, France; Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan; and Singapore.
During the first half of the year the Foundation also will hold three student alumnae development days for High Tech U graduates.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome these new 2007 sponsors to our growing family of generous supporters,” says SEMI Foundation Vice President Lisa Anderson. “To date over 60 companies and organizations have sponsored programs, helping ensure that we will reach or exceed our 2004–2007 target of 33,500 students.”
High Tech U is an innovative, highly interactive program that introduces high school students to the science of making semiconductors and to career pathways in math and science based professions. There is also a version of the program for high school teachers.
