SEMICON Europa’s Stuttgart Premiere—Quality Prevails
Consolidation and Growth
At SEMICON® Europa, 800 companies displayed manufacturing technologies for semiconductor devices, photovoltaic cells, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) as well as test, assembly and advanced packaging. The successful “four-track” concept provided a platform for device manufacturers, leading suppliers and R&D to investigate new opportunities in the development and commercialization of new products.
During SEMICON Europa 2007, the SEMI Technology Arena, theater located directly on the show floor, allowed 37 exhibiting companies to present themselves to a total of 377 visitors over three days—another opportunity for exhibitors to be visible at SEMICON Europa.
Exhibitors and Visitors Pleased with New Messe Stuttgart Venue
Both exhibitors and visitors were enthused about the exposition. A first-time exhibitor stated, “SEMICON Europa 2007 was our first exhibition to introduce our latest equipment and we chose this event because it is the most important exhibition in Europe in the field of semiconductors. We did a lot of preparatory work and SEMICON Europa was great to us because we made a very satisfactory amount of new interesting contacts.” (Mauro Cagliani from Elman Custom Engineering, which supplies reliability and qualification equipment for MEMS sensors.)
A veteran of SEMICON Europa stated, “We used it as a prominent platform for the first public presentation of our new pick and place handler. Our customers like to see us at SEMICON Europa, as it offers an opportunity to see live demos of our equipment and to have interesting discussions with our experts. SEMICON Europa 2007 was very successful for our company; we could introduce our new machine to a wide audience and establish new business contacts.” (Barbara Loferer from Multitest Elektronische GmbH, which is a global leader in test handling solutions.)
With 68% of the visitors having influence on purchasing decisions and 61% representing management, SEMICON Europa remains the high-level and quality event that makes its reputation. This year, the well-recognized regional association Silicon Saxony was very active at SEMICON Europa, including the presence of their CEO and President Mr. Wolfgang Schmid, who is the managing director of Qimonda in Dresden.
Executive Summit Focused on Competitiveness
The Executive Summit attracted over 200 top-level executives from the industry. The topic was "Enforcing Competitiveness of the European Semiconductor Industry." SEMI Europe President Heinz Kundert moderated the Summit—with executives from Bosch, Deutsche Solar, Infineon, Soitec, and Vistec participating.
