FPD TAIWAN 2006 TO BE HELD JUNE 14-16 IN TAIPEI

Event is Largest Flat Panel Display Exposition in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan, May 16, 2006 – FPD Taiwan 2006, the largest event in Taiwan dedicated to the global supply chain for the flat panel display (FPD) industry, will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center from June 14 to 16. The exposition is produced by SEMI and the Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA).

The exposition will feature more than 230 companies occupying 735 booths showcasing the latest flat panels and related manufacturing technologies.

Taiwan has become the world’s largest producer of TFT-LCDs, with a forecasted 2006 market share of more than 40 percent, according to research firm DisplaySearch. While LCDs remain the largest growth segment in the flat panel industry, Taiwan is a strong player in the development of other FPD product segments, including TN/STN, PM, OLED, and AMOLED technologies.

“With the forecasted growth in flat panel manufacturing, FPD Taiwan 2006 promises to be an exciting and comprehensive event for panel makers as well as equipment, materials and services suppliers,” said George C.T. Lin, vice president, Global FPD, SEMI.

The 2006 expo will feature country pavilions from Germany and Korea, a panel makers pavilion, exhibitor seminars, an academic plaza, and the Taiwan FPD Hall where visitors can learn about the current status of Taiwan’s flat panel industry. Other expo activities include the FPD Welcome Reception, Business & Technology Forums, and SEMI International Standards programs.

The Business & Technology Forum on June 14 will include sessions on global display market trends, LED applications, mobile TV trends, advances in the display manufacturing process, OLED technology, and backlighting sources. A new session, called Innovation Display, will explore innovations in display technology, including organic TFT, FED and flexible displays.

The SEMI International Standards Programs from June 15 to 16 will feature sessions on FPD materials standards, an update on EHS issues, an FPD safety standards workshop, a standards tutorial, and an FPD factory automation standards workshop.

The 2006 Taiwan Display Conference, to be held June 15 to 16 at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC), will feature experts from around the world giving their perspective on the latest R&D trends in the flat panel industry.

Exhibiting companies this year include major panel makers such as AU Optronics, Chi Mei Optoelectronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Toppoly Optoelectronics and Wintek; related components and materials providers including Corning Display, DuPont, and Wellypower Optronics; and world-class equipment companies such as AKT, Unaxis, ULVAC, Orbotech, and Shibaura.

Online registrations for the expo and the programs are now open. For more details on the show and programs, please visit http://www.fpdtaiwan.com.tw
