Attendees Voted for Winners at SEMI-MSIG European Summits on MEMS, Imaging and Sensors

GRENOBLE, France – September 21, 2018 SEMI, and its Strategic Association Partner MEMS & Sensors Industry Group (MSIG), yesterday announced winners of the annual Technology Showcase at the co-located SEMI-MSIG European MEMS & Sensors Summit 2018 and SEMI-MSIG European Imaging & Sensors Summit 2018. Attendees of the summits voted for one winner per category among ten finalists selected by a committee of industry experts.

SEMI logoWinners were announced at the event’s gala dinner and awarded by Laith Altimime, president of SEMI Europe and Mike Ciesinski, vice president of Technology Communities at SEMI. The award and conference, organized by SEMI-MSIG, are offered each year for companies across a range of sectors from Internet of Things (IoT) and consumer electronics to robotics and biomedical equipment. Winners receive a free exhibition booth for 2019.

Mir Sense LogoMirSense was crowned the winner of the 2018 MEMS & Sensors Technology Showcase for its MultiSense product, a breakthrough in real-time sensing and mapping gases for air quality and emission monitoring. Ludovic Laurent, research and development engineer at MirSense, presented the MultiSense product as the first handheld spectrometer to integrate quantum cascade lasers (QCL) and the photoacoustic detection of multigases below a few 100 part per billion. The silicon-based laser can be manufactured in high volume to drive costs lower cost than competing products. MultiSense is the product of 10 years’ experience of III-V lab work in QCL with the expertise of CEA-Leti in silicon integration. Find out more at MirSense and see an interview with MirSense CEO and co-founder Dr. Mathieu Carras.

Xenomatix logoXenomatiX N.V. won the popular vote for the Imaging and Sensors Technology Showcase for 2018 with its single imager, solid-state, 3D LIDAR with 2D camera for autonomous cars. The unique product, presented by XenomatiX N.V. CEO Filip Geuens, uses sensor fusion to overlay 2D and 3D data to provide high-accuracy, low-power, long-range detection and tracking of obstacles and road users. The solution monitors and analyzes a vehicle’s surroundings in real-time to sharpen the “vision” of autonomous driving systems. Visit XenomatiX and view the related video.

“It is exciting to see firsthand how the industry embraces advancements such as those demonstrated by MirSense and XenomatiX, our Technology Showcase winners," Ciesinski said. "Companies like these, and the electronics industry as a whole, are constantly innovating. SEMI organizes events such as the European MEMS, Imaging and Sensors Summits to help the industry and our members connect and collaborate, speeding innovation and time to market."
