This collection contains presentations by M. Charbonneau of FlexTech, Marcel Grooten, Managing Director of DoMicro, Harri Kopola, Ph.D., VP of Research in Knowledge Intensive Products and Services at VTT, and Miguel Carrasco, Ph.D., Program Manager at Cambridge Display Technology Limited (CDT), which were given during the 2017 FLEX Convention in June 2017 in Monterey, CA.
“Prototyping of Printed TFTs on Pilot Line for Smart Surface Applications” discusses printed electronics at CEA-LITEN, specifically electronic inks and industrialized processes to enable large flexible surfaces with electronic functions. Printing pilot line prototypes, material and device prototypes, and circuit and system prototypes are revealed.
“Tools and Technology for Flexible Hybrid Electronics” gives a company introduction of DoMicro, and discusses micro device fabs, application technologies (flexible, resistor range, multilayer circuits, hybrids for wireless, RFID and LED, flexible batteries, energy harvesting, naked die contacting), nano wire printing, and transparent conductive film.
“Growth of New Printed Intelligence Driven Industry and Products” discusses current printed intelligence, the latest in pilot manufacturing capability, and new function testing platforms. Demand for flex-enabled products is on the rise in the markets. Further technologies are mentioned, like organic solar cell, wearables, printed and hybrid sensors, mobile health and wellness service, and surroundings as a service.
“Progress in Printed TEGs and Batteries / Supercapacitors” discusses FlexOLEDs, printable thermoelectric generators, and flexible hybrid supercapacitors / batteries. CDT’s current research areas are included, such as biosensors, image and gas sensors, and lighting and energy applications, in pursuit of development and commercialization.
