SEMI Honors Congressman Michael McCaul for Government Leadership
WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 6, 2011 – SEMI today presented U.S. Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX) with the industry’s 2011 North American Government Leadership Award, which recognizes policymakers in the United States who have demonstrated outstanding leadership on issues and policies that support the U.S. microelectronics and photovoltaic manufacturing value chain.
The award was presented during the association’s annual lobbying day by SEMI North America Advisory Board chairman and DuPont Electronics and Communications president David B. Miller who was accompanied by a group of SEMI member executives participating in the association’s Washington Forum.
“SEMI is pleased to present the Government Leadership Award to Congressman McCaul,” said Karen Savala, president of SEMI North America, “He is a leader and champion on high-tech innovation issues. Throughout his first three terms, and now into his fourth, Representative McCaul has made a priority of issues that are important to our industry and to the advancement of innovation in America.”
Representative McCaul is a co-founder and co-chair of the House High Tech Caucus, vice-chair of the Republican Conference High Tech Taskforce, and a member of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. With these roles and his notable support for the America Competes Act last year, he has distinguished himself as a leader on high-tech issues.
The SEMI North American Government Leadership Award was established in 2004 to recognize policymakers in the United States that promote pro-innovation policies. Recipients of the award are selected by the SEMI North American Advisory Board, and the award is presented in conjunction with the SEMI Washington Forum, one of the organization’s annual executive meetings with elected legislators and Federal officials in Washington, D.C.
