Milpitas, CA – May 6, 2019 – SEMI-NBMC (Nano-Bio Materials Consortium) publicly released today a Request For Proposals (RFP) for projects designed to accelerate Smart MedTech innovations in health monitoring, diagnostics and performance augmentation. The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) will provide primary funding for the approximate $6 million initial project call as part of its mission to advance digital health and personalized medicine.

Smart MedTech capabilities targeted by this 2019 solicitation include:

A. Wearable Device for Ambulatory Monitoring
B. Wearable, Human-Biochemistry Monitoring
C. Wearable, Cuff-less Blood Pressure Monitoring
D. Open Concepts for Wearable/Mobile Human-Monitoring/Diagnostic

Manufacturers and developers in the electronics supply chain are encouraged to review the RFP and respond in a two-stage process: Submit white papers by May 24, 2019, at 5:00 pm PDT and, if selected, full proposals by June 26, 2019. Award notifications will be issued on or about July 15, 2019. 

“The field of nano-bio electronics product development is in a state of extreme disruption,” noted Melissa Grupen-Shemansky, SEMI CTO for flexible electronics and advanced packaging. “SEMI-NBMC will foster electronics innovation that will enable new directions in digital health and personalized medicine including priorities like en route care in aeromedicine. The disruption will pull together advanced microelectronics and life sciences like never before, and NBMC is seeking breakthrough concepts that will accelerate the change.”
