The Phil Kaufman Award honors individuals who have had a demonstrable impact on the field of electronic system design through technology innovations, education/mentoring, or business or industry leadership. The award was established as a tribute to Phil Kaufman, the late industry pioneer who turned innovative technologies into commercial businesses that have benefited electronic designers.

Dr. Lawrence T. Pileggi is being honored with the 2023 Phil Kaufman Award in recognition of his pioneering contributions that have enabled the industry to address the challenges of interconnect delay dominated designs, including:
Interconnect Modeling
Physical Synthesis
Lithography Directed Design & Manufacturability
Co-design and Co-optimization of Logic and Layout
Power Grid Simulation and Optimization
Dr. Pileggi continues to provide significant and lasting leadership in Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) education.
Meet the Moderator
Dr. Walden "Wally" C. Rhines is President and CEO of Cornami. Previously, he was CEO of Mentor Graphics for 25 years and Chair of the Board for 17 years. Prior to joining Mentor Graphics, Dr. Rhines was Executive Vice President, Semiconductor Group, responsible for TI's worldwide semiconductor business.
Dr. Rhines was also the 2015 Phil Kaufman Award Recipient for his leadership role in growing the EDA and IC Design Industries.
Meet the Tribute Presenter
Dr. Andrzej Strojwas has served as a technical advisor to PDF since the company’s founding and chief technologist from 1997 to 2021, and in December 2021 was named Chief Technology Officer. Previously, Dr. Strojwas was the Keithley Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Strojwas has also held senior technical positions at Harris Semiconductor Co., AT&T Bell Labs, Texas Instruments, NEC, Hitachi, SEMATECH, and KLA-Tencor.
Dr. Strojwas was also honored with the Phil Kaufman Award in 2016 for his pioneering and sustained contributions to design for manufacturing.
