All over the world, podcasts are increasing in popularity. According to Edison Research, 78% of Americans over the age of 12 are aware of podcasting, and 28% (approx. 88 million people) are weekly podcast listeners. That’s a 17% increase over 2020. That number is expected to increase by 10.1% year-over-year in 2021 as demand for on-demand audio increases. Listeners are also increasing in other areas of the world.
Podcasting is growing in usage in the semiconductor industry as a way to deliver compelling content, and SEMI is always looking for new opportunities to connect to its members. That’s why for SEMICON West 2021 Hybrid, we’ve partnered with 3D InCites to create the official SEMICON West Podcast Series.
The series will feature two episodes that preview SEMICON West. In the first – accessible in the player below – Sandy Chapin, Director of SEMI Americas Operations, discusses everything from what it takes to plan a hybrid event to how to make the most of it as an exhibitor and an attendee. She shares some event program highlights, what it means for the show to be co-located with the Design Automation Conference and important COVID-19 safety protocols.
The second episode, scheduled to air November 29, 2021, will feature an interview with SEMICON West 2021 Hybrid keynote speaker James Gellert, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RapidRatings, a SaaS technology firm that provides information on the financial health of public and private companies around the world. Gellert will provide a sneak preview of his talk Cybersecurity and Supply Chain Security.
During the event, Françoise von Trapp, who hosts the 3D InCites podcast, will record live from the show floor in the SEMI booth. She’ll also be recording sponsored spots with interested exhibitors and featuring them in an Exhibitor Round-up episode that will air after SEMICON West. All episodes will be integrated into the Virtual SEMICON West platform for attendees to enjoy and available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and wherever you get your podcasts.
