Expanding Michigan’s Microelectronic Talent Pipeline
And excellent discussion on bolstering the microelectronics industry in Michigan, including new workforce development programs and the CHIPS Act and its potential impact. SEMI Foundation shared efforts in partnership with the MEDC to create customized training for semiconductor companies and help Michigan workers join this growing industry. There was an exploration of workforce development aspects of CHIPS and how it can support Michigan as a leader in the tech and manufacturing sectors.

The SEMI Career and Apprenticeship Network (SCAN) is a program created to meet the needs of Michigan’s growing semiconductor and microelectronics industry. SCAN focuses on earn-and-learn training models that teach the foundational and specialized skills needed for the well-paid, high-demand jobs in the industry, but also connects trainees with critical wrap-around services and community resources
