300mm Equipment 4Q23

300mm Fab Outlook (2015 to 2026). Published December 12, 2023

The report tracks 399 fabs/lines (including R&Ds and pilots) by more than 84 companies and organizations around the world. This edition extends the forecast to 2026, providing insights into current and future investment activities in 300mm semiconductor fabs and informs business planning and capacity additions.

Report Highlights:

  • Fab equipment spending for 2023 is expected to slightly increase to US$94 B (3% YoY)
  • We expect fab equipment for 2024 with $102 B (+8% YoY), 2025 with $120 B (+18% YoY), and 2026 with $132 B (+10% YoY) in 2026
  • Total 300mm installed capacity is expected to decline in 2023 but still grow 7% in 2023, 9% in 2024, 11% in 2025, and 9% in 2026.
  • The report shows 66 new 300mm volume fabs (greenfield and shell) to begin operation from 2023 to 2026, raising the count to 223 fabs by 2026 (including EPI). The number is higher if including low probability fabs.
