SCC Governing Council Members

John Golightly

John Golightly is Corporate Director of Sustainability, Climate, & Global EHS at ASM. John joined ASM in 2012, and has been instrumental in driving its Sustainability programs and results. He has focused his entire career on advancing sustainability and safety, including work at Novellus Systems and in the chemical industry.

In 2021, John presented the idea of a semiconductor industry climate pact to the SEMI Sustainability Advisory Council. He led the working group that then formed the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC), and currently serves as Chair. John is passionate about the importance and power of collaboration in solving sustainability challenges, bringing key stakeholders together, setting the right direction and targets, and finding a common path forward to results. John believes “we have not a moment to waste to protect tomorrow for the next generation, so collaboration is key to making climate progress faster.”

 

 

 


James LarsenJim Larsen is a Supply Chain Responsibility Environmental Program Manager at Intel Corporation where he developed and implemented Intel’s initial environmental program for the supply chain. Jim has over 35 years of experience in constructing and operating some of the largest and most advanced semiconductor manufacturing fabs in the world, providing Environmental, Health, & Safety leadership for these fabs, and driving Environmental, Social, & Governance Responsibility throughout Intel’s supply chain. He has also led bold and innovative Environmental Initiatives with internal organizations, industry associations, government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, and community members.

Jim believes that the SCC brings a unique opportunity for the Semiconductor Industry to collaborate across the value chain to accomplish more than companies working independently. In addition, the SCC can be complimentary and collaborative with other industry associations, government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, and community organizations where it is mutually beneficial in doing so.

 

 

 


Chris Librie

Chris Librie is Applied Materials senior director of ESG. In that role, Chris is responsible for accelerating the company’s environmental, social and governance programs while communicating these to external stakeholders.

During his tenure, Chris has expanded the central ESG team, taking on responsibility for driving Applied’s climate strategy - including RE100 and science-based targets (SBTS). He leads the company’s ESG Leadership Council, comprised of executives from business units and functions responsible for driving Applied’s programs. Prior to Applied, Chris most recently served as director of corporate social responsibility at Samsung Semiconductor, Inc., eBay Inc. and HP Inc.  

Chris is committed to make possible a better future by decarbonizing the semiconductor value chain, thereby making our industry truly sustainable.

 

 

 


Young Bae

Young Bae is Global Business Director for Advanced Cleans Technologies in DuPont Electronics & Industrial, a leader in specialty materials for precision cleaning and surface preparation in semiconductor fabrication processes, including front- and back-end-of-line wafer processes, packaging and assembly.  Young is an executive sponsor for DuPont Semiconductor Technologies Sustainability Steering Team and has been actively driving sustainability projects across Semiconductor Technologies businesses.

Young states, “I am excited to play a role to connect upstream raw materials suppliers and downstream semiconductor fab end users for better collaboration to address common challenges. Through concerted and collective efforts, we will be able to accelerate our journey to the zero carbon footprint.” 

 

 

 


Bruce Gall

Bruce Gall has been part of the semiconductor industry for nearly 20 years.  Starting as a Thin Films process engineer at Intel's HVM fabs, to Capital Equipment development and sourcing, to the current role of silicon operations and strategy at Google, his diverse roles have helped to formalize unique perspectives across the entire Semiconductor value chain.  He is excited to help bring these experiences and passion to supporting the sustainable growth across our industry. 

Bruce believes, "'Action without thought is empty; Thought without action is blind.'  We need to collaborate across our industry and chart a collective course to Net Zero.  The SCC is an important industry platform that we can leverage to accomplish that goal."

 

 

 


Missy Bindseil

Missy Bindseil is the Director of Sustainability & Communications for JSR North America Holdings, Inc. where she is responsible for setting and guiding the JSR sustainability and communications strategies across the US and EU. As sustainability lead at JSR NA she has worked to ensure sustainability permeates all of JSR’s business activities. She is working to develop Science-based Targets (SBTs) for GHG emissions reduction at JSR; ensure a strong double materiality based on global Sustainable Value Chain Assessment criteria. 

She looks to share her passion for sustainability and the industry, as well as help guide communications for the SCC as an organization.

 

 

 

 


Shawn Covell

Shawn Covell is a senior executive with twenty years of experience in the technology industry with leadership roles at Lam Research, Intel, and Qualcomm. She has worked at Lam Research to help the company commit to 100% renewable electricity by 2030 and Net Zero emissions by 2050.  She led the creation of company-wide Net Zero working groups and a governance structure; and applied to and received approval from Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) for their 2025/2030 net zero roadmap.

Shawn brings her experience in setting sustainability goals, building the systems and tools to achieve them, and forging collaborations with our suppliers, customers, regulators and other stakeholders. She looks forward to leading industry level collaborations that require the ability to find common ground, incorporate differing perspectives, and identify pathways to achieving common goals.

 

 

 

 

 


Claire Seo, Samsung

Claire Seo is the Head of the Samsung Semiconductor's Corporate Sustainability
Management Office. She is responsible for overlooking the company’s decarbonization strategy, implementing DE&I into the workplace and driving other ESG initiatives. 

Previously, Claire was a managing partner at ERM Korea and brings more than
20 years of sustainability focused investment expertise, which includes UN Principles for Responsible Investment. 

 

 

 

 


Henri Berthe

Henri Berthe, a seasoned professional with close to 20 years of experience at Schneider Electric, is at the helm of leading the global Semiconductor Segment. Henri has held various leadership positions within Schneider Electric, including, VP of Universal Enclosures, as VP of Business Development, Energy Automation division and as VP of Digital Energy in the MENA and African regions where he deployed the digital technologies and electrification solutions in the building segment.

With his expertise and vision, Henri is helping to shape the future of the semiconductor industry, paving the way for a more sustainable, digitized, and prosperous tomorrow.  With an extensive background in managerial roles across different markets, including buildings and utilities, Henri brings a wealth of expertise to the SCC. 

 

 

 

 


Katharina has been spKatharina Westrichearheading Siemens' Semiconductor Vertical Management since January 2023, leading a global team in supporting the Semiconductors industry along the whole value chain. She is a dynamic and accomplished leader at the forefront of digitalization and sustainability solutions. Her clear focus is unleashing the potential of resilient semiconductor manufacturing while transforming the everyday through innovative technologies. Katharina has held various key strategic positions within Siemens. 

Katharina's academic background includes a master’s and bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a focus on strategic management and customer analytics. 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Yuji Ogino

Yuji Ogino has over thirty-five years of experience in the semiconductor industry, has held a number of executive roles at TEL, and is currently Vice President of Corporate Sustainability Management. Yuji continues to contribute to the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) as a Governing Council member.

“Realizing the critical urgency of climate change, I strongly believe that the SCC will play an even more vital role in tackling the issues we face today and in the future. This will include developing opportunities for the industry to create value through our businesses in a collaborative and progressive manner.”

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

​​​The SCC is currently governed by the SCC Agreement.  A Charter and Bylaws committee is in place to replace the SCC Agreement with new governing documents.
