Industry4Europe, a coalition of nearly 150 industry organizations including SEMI dedicated to campaigning for an ambitious EU industrial strategy, has published A long-term strategy for Europe’s industrial future: from words to action, a set of proposals aimed at informing a comprehensive long-term industrial strategy for Europe.
The new paper presents concrete industrial policy proposals across the following seven priority fields.
- Business-friendly policy environment
- Sustainability at business core
- Upgraded skills and training
- Enhanced research and innovation
- Investment and improved access to finance
- Reinforcement of the European Single Market
- Strengthened trade and international market access
Industry4Europe offers cross-sectoral recommendations for the EU industrial strategy planned by European Commission President-Elect Ursula von der Leyen, who has stated in her Political Guidelines for the upcoming mandate that she would “put forward my plan for a future-ready economy, our new industrial strategy.”
Industry4Europe is pressing for a long-term EU industrial strategy that enables Europe to remain a leading innovation hub for a sustainable manufacturing industry that provides quality jobs for all Europeans today and in the future.
Industry4Europe looks forward to consulting with all policymakers – notably Executive Vice-Presidents Valdis Dombrovskis and Margrethe Vestager and Commissioner Thierry Breton – to implement a much-needed update of the EU industrial strategy.
