RoHS

In 2018, SEMI shared a statement reflecting the common view of key industry associations with the European Commission and Oeko-Institut & Fraunhofer IZM contributing to a study that supports the review of the list of restricted substances and assesses a new exemption request under RoHS 2 (Pack 15).

SEMI recently shared industry feedback with the European Commission on the roadmap for reviewing RoHS (the Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment). SEMI brought the following topics to the attention of the European Commission: 

Since its inception in 2002, the RoHS Directive has become a global reference point for regulation of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). This has been effective and given the EU a competitive advantage.
