Podcast: SEMICON West 2024 to Help Advance Global Chip Industry Growth to $1 Trillion

The U.S. and other governments worldwide are pouring unprecedented investments into their semiconductor sectors after the pandemic-inspired chip shortage drew new attention to the importance of chips to their economic and national security – a trend that sets the stage for SEMICON West 2024, July 9-11 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Themed Stronger Together, SEMICON West 2024 will gather industry experts and government officials to share insights into critical areas for the chip industry including supply chain resilience, heterogeneous integration, cybersecurity, sustainability and workforce development to support the industry's drive to $1 trillion in annual revenue. Updates on CHIPS and Science Act funding will also come into sharp focus at the exhibition and conference. Registration is open.

This year’s event will feature new face-to-face training, three full days of speaker sessions, a larger Smart Manufacturing Pavilion, and much more. In a podcast with Francoise von Trapp of 3D InCites, SEMI Americas President Joe Stockunas highlights new additions to SEMICON West and why they’re important to helping the industry address key growth opportunities and challenges. He also shares updates on investment opportunities in the U.S. industry.

Notably, this year’s conference will dive into AI and how it’s being used within the semiconductor industry to drive new efficiencies, as well as the current state of the industry as it relates to quantum computing. Stockunas also touches on SEMICON’s new offering, SEMI University: Pre-Show Training, in response to popular demand.

Stockunas provides an inside look into the market opportunities that will be highlighted during the CEO Summit. This year’s Summit will feature two parts: Tuesday will focus on investing in America’s chip industry, and Wednesday will zero in on global market opportunities.

CEO Summit

Tuesday, July 9 - Investing in America’s Future

  • This session will feature updates from government officials on the CHIPS Act and state support for the domestic semiconductor industry, highlighting the $225 billion in public and private investments committed to the sector since the enactment of the U.S. federal statute. Leaders from companies across the supply chain, including device manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and materials providers will present.

Wednesday, July 10 - Seizing the Global Opportunities and Challenges Ahead

  • Speakers will address pressing global semiconductor industry issues including supply chain resilience, sustainability, talent, and the state of Moore’s Law.
This year’s summit will also include the executive panel titled Beyond Tier Mapping – Creating a Robust and Resilient Supply Chain Risk Management Program. The panel of supply chain experts will explore solutions to multi-tier supply chain mapping and risk management issues.

Co-located with SEMICON West 2024, the FLEX Conference & Exhibition will highlight the latest innovations in flexible hybrid electronics (FHE), printed electronics and advanced packaging, including heterogeneous integration. Look for keynotes, panel discussions, technical sessions, funding opportunities, product-based demonstrations and industry tours.
